Psychology Assessment Services
in South-East Melbourne

Welcome

Child and adolescent psychological assessments

Psychology Assessment Services (PAS) offer psychological assessments for children and adolescents aged between 4 to 17 years.

Our psychologists provide an assessment only service (i.e. we do not provide ongoing counselling). We specialise in diagnosing neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, specific learning disorders (e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), oppositional defiant disorder, and intellectual disability.

We have psychologist clinics located in Narre Warren and Frankston, which service suburbs within south-east Melbourne.

Psychological assessments provide valuable information about a child’s cognitive ability, academic skills, behaviour, attention, social skills, and emotional well-being.

Results from psychological assessments help to identify a child's strengths and weaknesses, and guide what support and strategies may assist a child at home and school.

Quality Business Awards has selected Psychology Assessment Services as:

"The Best Psychology Clinic in the City of Casey for 2024"

Diagnostic Assessment

Diagnostic Assessments

Psychological assessments are used to diagnose a range of disorders including:

  • Intellectual Disability

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Specific Learning Disorder: Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)

  • Conduct Disorder

A diagnosis is not about applying a ‘label’ to a child; rather it is about identifying the child’s presenting issues and providing the most appropriate solutions, treatments, and strategies based on the diagnosis made.

A diagnosis contributes to applications for school funding and NDIS funding. A diagnosis also enables parents and educators to make informed decisions about what is best for the child, and ensure the right strategies and interventions are put in place to help them reach their best potential.

Psychological assessments help to identify underlying issues

Parents and educators may have concerns about a child who is struggling to learn, has difficulty socialising, has trouble paying attention, displays challenging behaviours, and/or appears to have emotional issues. Psychological assessments can help understand the reason/s why.

Psychology assessments help to identify underlying issues that may be impacting a child’s functioning at school and home.

Psychological Assessment
Importance of Early Identification

It is important to identify a child’s difficulties and/or developmental delays early so they can receive the interventions needed to improve their abilities and skills. The earlier interventions begin, the greater the chance a child has of achieving success in school and life.
